Deborah J. Davis, ASID, CID, has been practicing Interior
Design for over 16 years. She is known for accomplishing her clients’ desired
effect while balancing their need for functional space. Her cohesive approach
has won her many accolades as an intuitive designer.
Deborah Davis is
the principle and lead designer of Davis Design, a residential and commercial interior
design firm formed in 1995. For over a
decade, Davis has created aesthetic and functional interiors for homes and
offices, pairing her intuitive approach with her organizational and
knowledge-based skills. On occasion, Davis has extended her skills and approach
to religious organizations and women’s shelters, providing pro bono work to the
community. Her skills in space
planning, AutoCAD, furniture and cabinetry design have been instrumental assets
in her projects as she strives for excellent proportions and refinement for all
of her clients.
Davis grew up in the suburbs of Chicago where her interests
in travel and museums led her to follow a career at an early age. She went on to earn a B.S. in Interior
design from Illinois State University and is certified in the State of
California as well as qualified by the nationally recognized N.C.I.D.Q. exam.
After moving to Los Angeles, Davis spent time as a Set
Designer in various art department capacities. She worked in positions ranging
from Coordinator to Production Designer on national commercials, music videos,
and films with a number of talents including Snoop Dogg, Jason Alexander, Jason
Swartzman, Red Buttons, and the rock group Train. Additionally, she has presented a winning design on the HGTV
show, Designer’s Challenge.
In 2003 Davis was contracted by E! Entertainment to specify
furniture and finishes for E! Network corporate spaces. Her work spans all
arenas: from reconfiguring entire corporate workspaces, to designing private
executive offices. Her designs may be seen in Ryan Seacrest’s office, the E!
Lobby, as well as the Celebrity Lounges.
Davis has consulted on furniture, finish specification, and space
planning for E! offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London, and Hong
Kong. In her work with E! Entertainment
Davis became instrumental in designing and coordinating additional
post-production editing facilities for the growing company and was exposed to
the ergonomic impact of these specialized workspaces. It prompted her to get C.E.A.S. (Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist) certification
in ergonomics, after which she went on to provide office ergonomic assessments
for almost one hundred offices, editing facilities, and medical workspaces at
production companies on the Universal Studios lot, Cedars Sinai Medical Center
and E! Entertainment. Her commitment to
matching the worker to their workspace is in perfect alignment with her life
work of fitting the client to their interior spaces.
Davis has had the honor of speaking at UCLA, Woodbury
University, and FIDM College to discuss her career and the scholarship
opportunities offered by the Harold Grieves Educational Fund of which she
currently serves as Director. She has been an active member of A.S.I.D.
(American Society of Interior Designers) since 1986, and helps to maintain the
Los Angeles chapter that provides extensive networking and educational
opportunities for the city’s professional interior design industry. Currently
she is President-Elect for the Los Angeles Chapter of ASID. For more
